    Bob Hastings

    Robert "Bob" Francis Hastings was an American radio, film, and television character actor who passed away on June 30, 2014 at the age of 89 due to natural causes. He was best known for his character Lt. Elroy Carpenter, opposite Ernest Borgnine's character on "McHale's Navy." Born 1925 in Brooklyn New York, Hastings started out his career in the television series “Captain Video and his Video Rangers” in 1949. In 1960 he was cast as Lt. Bolt in the series “Hennessey” but it wasn't until 1962 that he got the role as Lt. Elroy Carpenter in McHale's Navy that he first tasted stardom. Hastings extensive voice acting career started in 1973 with him playing the voice of Henry Glopp in Hanna-Barbera's animated series, “Jeannie.” One of his last voice acting jobs was the voice of the Judge in the video game “Mafia II.” His son, Michael, said of his dad, "He loved his craft. We learned that from him: You have to love what you do.” A rosary for Bob Hastings was held at Saint Finbar Catholic Church in Burbank. The
