Bob Denver was an American actor who departed this life at the age of 70 due to complications from treatment for cancer. He was best known for his roles as "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" and for his iconic role as Gilligan in "Gilligan's Island." At one point, Denver had studied law at Loyola University in Los Angeles before he decided on acting as a career. Born 1935 in New Rochelle, New York, He coached physical education and taught mathematics and history at Corpus Christi School in Pacific Palisades, California. He began acting and appeared on "Dobie Gillis" as Maynard G. Krebs in 1959. Denver landed the title role on the sitcom "Gilligan's Island" in 1963 and television history was made. In 1968 he starred in “The Good Guys” and in 1973 he performed in “Dusty's Trail.” In 1991 the cast of “Gilligan's Island reunited for the “Ross Schaffer Late Night Show.” For the rest of his life he continued to make public appearances in regard to the show “Gilligan's Island.” Fellow actor, Dawn Wells, spoke of D
