Betty Bassett Reading The Measure of All Things by Ken Adler. Amid the chaos of the French Revolution, two astronomers set out in opposite directions to measure the world. Their findings would help define the meter as one ten-millionth of the distance between the pole and the equator. Their ambition was to transform France--and ultimately the rest of the world--into a free market for the open exchange of goods and information.

Betty Bassett Good times at Trader Joes in Kettering. Ran into Tiffany Diaz shopping with her husband. Such a great time having a conversation with Tiffany! She takes pictures of flowers and nature, something I'm totally clueless about. Hopefully we'll be able to do a photoshoot together maybe in the Spring when flowers at Wegerzen Metropark are in bloom. I so miss Richard Fox from Focus photo club. He is probably the funniest person ever, so talented and clever about his humor! And one of the best all time reasons to come to Trader Joe's is Bill, who works there. I'm working on a dinner invite from him. And title of best friend. Looking forward to a family photoshoot when his daughter gets back from college. It's entirely social hour at Trader Joe's from 6-7pm. Soooooo great to stand around a chat with so many shoppers. Met Wayne and his wife who recently lost their daughter. I told her that I have a daughter and I gave Wayne and his wife a big hug. Very heartbreaking but we all live this life together so I am glad that I could offer some condolence for thier unfathomable loss.

Betty Bassett I was so inspired. During my wait at the Greyhound bus station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania underneath the TV. Yeah. Me. Singing. I'm a superhero for killing all known aliens from this world with how bad my singing is. You're welcome. I've been saving lives. So. This guy. He said that he works in pharmaceuticals. There's always demand, he says. And a good 401K program. He keeps interrupting my singing with approval. After fifteen minutes of adoration from him interspersed with conversation, the story unfolds. He says my singing has a very narrow range. When I'm supposed to go high instead, I go low. He said really it wasn't the worst singing he's ever heard. And it is above nails scratching on a chalkboard. He likes Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. He said I needed to stretch my vocal cords and the way to accomplish that is singing in the shower. Boredom entailed as we waited the long hours until our bus departed. I introduced him to the Jerusalema Dance Challenge that was a rallying cry for peace across the world. He introduced me to the plight of pangolin. It's being driven to extinction because it's scales are thought to have medicinal properties which actually has no scientific basis. We listened to R&B and he taught me a two move dance. I said that Asians have no rhythm. He said his father didn't either though his father is black. I drew my breath in shocked horror. There's no excuse for a black man not to have rythym!
