    Bernie Mac, aka Bernard Jeffrey "Bernie" McCullough, was an American stand-up comedian, actor and voice artist who passed away at the age of 50 due to pneumonia. He was a member of The Original Kings of Comedy. He was also the star of "The Bernie Mac Show," which ran for five years and earned him two Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Born 1957 in Chicago, Illinois, he attended Chicago Vocational Career Academy in 1974. Mac started as a stand-up comedian in Chicago's Cotton Club in 1988 and he played a small role in 1994's "House Party 3" as Uncle Vester. However, he acted in a minor role and got his big break as Pastor Clever in Ice Cube's 1995 film "Friday." Three years later, he had his first starring role as Dollar Bill, a silly, slick-talking club owner in "The Players Club."
