Yonit Stern Bella my queen, Shlomo my late husband was Ervin’s first cousin. Since they were the same age they also were very best friends. After WWII, Shlomo came to Israel and Ervin decided to emigrate to the US. On his way he met Bella. They fell in love and married. The year 1962-63 we spent in San Francisco studying. On our way back to Israel we planned a road trip across country, mainly because Shlomo wanted to reunite with Ervin and meet his new family. I was quite skeptical about this meeting but when we arrived to the Eisenberg home, Bella and me looked at each other, hugged and immediately became friends. There never was a week without a long distance phone call between Omaha and Jerusalem. The Eisenbergs owned a big convertible car. They traveled by ship with the car back to Europe to a family reunion in Vienna. Ervin wanted to impress the family with his new car! Before landing in Vienna, they came to Israel to see us. I never asked Bella if the family was impressed by the car, but the people of Jerusalem definitely were! They had never seen such a car in real life - only in the movies. When we drove through the streets, people waved and clapped! What a scene! Bella- my queen- I miss you so very much. Nurit Stern

My memories of Bella or Mrs Eisenberg as I called her. You see it was 1976 and I was 16 and this is how I was taught to speak to my friends' mothers... She always invited me to call her Bella. And I eventually did. Bella was elegant, gentle and carried a lightness of being that belied her personal history or rather illuminated her inner strength....

I met Bella when Bob, Talia and Zev had their New York City interlude a good decade or two ago. The Eisenbergs used to have these big rambling gatherings with an enviably diverse group of interesting artists, thinkers, writers, poets, designers and techies all swirling together and exchanging ideas in their gorgeous airy apartment overlooking River...

Bella is one of a kind, so many memories... she’s the rock! Would be impossible for me to come up with a shining story, too many. What I can say is in the most random places I think of her, big smile, from picking up flowers to rotisserie chicken. Love, Moss

Dear Eisenberg family, my family..... It is hard for me to remember Bella without a smile....We had so many good times when she visited Vienna, first with little Bobby and Ervin, then without them. Although she was "only" a sister in law to the Eisenbergs we considered her a real sister - as my brother already mentioned! The last time she was in V...

Most of my memories of Bella revolve around picking her up for concerts or to go to lectures. I always knew we would have good seats because Bella could find a way in even when we didn’t have tickets. It was always fun and interesting to be with her. We talked about all kinds of subjects including our grandchildren. Bella said more than once, “Enjo...

Talia Eisenberg Our family, including Joseph and Leah Kosinovsky and children Greg and Zarina Kosinovsky, is very proud to have had Bella as our friend. We remember her as an unusually kind, intelligent, warmhearted, and overall, absolutely exceptional human being, inside and out. Within this email, I am sending scans of a few photos I have found. One photo is in a restaurant, with Meritorious Artist of the Russian Federation Abram Rabkin, my step-brother. I, Leah Kosinovsky, am on the right, in a sweater. Abram Rabkin was entranced by Bella’s appearance. Each time he saw her, he would repeat:” She is so-o-o beautiful! It is as if I can see before me the image of her face from her youth… “. You, of course, can recognize Shirley Goldstein and Eunice Denenberg there as well. It was the initiative of Shirley, Eunice and Bella, among others that made Rabkin’s enormous art exhibition happen, including at Bemis, JCC, and the Orpheum Theater. Other three photos are from the bridal shower of our daughter Zarina Kosinovsky in the Goldstein home. On the one with the teapot, Bella is in the front smiling and sharing in Zarina’s happiness – kvelling. On the second photo, the vertical one, Bella is presenting Zarina with a gift from Eunice and herself. On the third one, Bella is smiling from the middle of the second row. We wish you the best in your project. If you will have questions, do not hesitate to call Sincerely, Leah and Joseph Kosinovsky

Bless Bella, 45 years ago, my husband opened up his new dental practice. It was all we could do to afford to buy the equipment at the time. My husband asked me to help decorate the office with little to no money. I don’t remember knowing Bella before but I thought my dear mother had known her. Maybe she was in Pioneer Women (Na’amat), but I c...

Pamela Kohll My birthday downtown NYC

The first time I met Bella was in NY with Zev and Talia in 2008. I'll always remember how kindly she looked into my eyes and how she seemed to get me and understand me...instantly. At that time, I was going through a lot of turbulence professionally and was scared to pursue my art passions full-time. Bella and I spoke about this in detail and I ...

Dear Talia, Hello! I am a friend of your father’s. I first met Bobby when he came to Boston to attend Harvard University. He had some amazing parties in Cambridge! I’ll start at the beginning. We had heard about Bella long before I ever met her from Dan Grossman a Stanford Business School friend of Mike’s who grew up in Omaha. Talia, what a wonderful gesture to create this page in Bella's honor, and to invite us to share our memories of her ! I met Bella - how else could it be - at one of Bob's parties in NY. I met Bella around 1990. She was very soft spoken yet every delicate word that came of her mouth was powerful. I admired her for her love of travel and art. I liked Bella. She was much more-relaxed than my mom (Racky Newman), and seemed more accepting of us boys’ impish ways. Bella also struck me as one of the ‘butterflies' who escaped the camps.
