Barbara Lillian Billingsley was an American film, television, voice and stage actress who departed this life at the age of 94 due to Polymyalgia. She is best known for her role of June Cleaver on the television series "Leave It to Beaver" and its sequel "Still the Beaver" (1985–88, retitled in season two as “The New Leave It to Beaver”). However, her acting career spanned over thirty years. Born 1915 in Los Angeles, California, she attended Los Angeles Junior College and then landed a contract with MGM Studios in 1945. Her first supporting role was in 1951 in the film "Three Guys Named Mike." After a couple other small movie parts, she won a co-starring role in the sitcom "Professional Father" in 1955. Finally, in 1957, Billingsley made her mark on TV as everyday mother June Cleaver on "Leave It to Beaver,” a show about the misadventures of a suburban boy, family and friends.
