    anani dzidzienyo's memory board

Anani and I would share a cold beer and talk of my adventures whenever I arrived in town to visit my sister at Brown. She lived above him on Chesterfield Street in one of the houses that were moved to make way for a dorm. My sister has moved out of town. The house is several blocks away from its original foundation, and now Anani has moved on to bring his unique insight and wisdom back to the council of ancestors. It is not enough to say he will be missed. He was a craftsman who weaved the fabric of this community together with his quiet questioning. He was a consistent coach urging his students and friends to exercise their intellectual curiosity. And to lubricate those conversations, Anani kept four of five ice cold glass beer mugs in his freezer poised and ready for performance as needed. Blow your horn Gabriel - a man of importance is entering the gates.
