This memorial site was created to celebrate the life of Alfredo Policarpio with a collection of his family's loving memories. Alfredo San Miguel Policarpio, age 88, passed away on August 23, 2021 in Deerfield, Illinois. Alfredo was born in San Fernando, Pampanga to Adela and Gregorio Policarpio. He graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His involvement in his local community inspired him to design, supervise, and help build a church in Calumpit, Bulacan. In 1969, he emigrated to the United States to provide more opportunities for his family. As an engineer at Sargent and Lundy, he designed pipe supports for nuclear power plants. He later worked for the Environmental Protection Agency (Superfund) and eventually retired at age 79. Alfredo is preceded in death by spouses Corazon, Rosita; siblings Eduardo, Berhilio, Benjamin, and Efrenia. Alfredo is the beloved husband of Elvira; loving father of Maria Luisa (Marlo) Policarpio-Nicolas, Edwin (Angelina), Irma (Kevin) Dixler, Agnes (Frank Pensa); cherished brother of Violeta and Ofelia, and adored grandfather of Alyssa, Kyle (Alexis), Brianna and Mia. His enduring spirit, kindness, integrity, and love of nature will be cherished in our memories. In lieu of gifts and flowers, please consider planting a tree in his memory; in honor of his favorite poem, “Trees,” by Joyce Kilmer.
