Alen Wale was born on 09 July 1961 and sadly passed away on 24 March 2016, after a long battle with illness. He was the youngest son of George Edward (Ted) and Alice Catherine Wale. Alen was an active member of the Cabramatta Branch of the Australian Labor Party and a regular volunteer at Campaign Headquarters in several marginal seats at state and federal elections. Most notably, he spoke to more than 2,000 people on the phone throughout the 2013 federal and 2015 state election campaigns. Alen played for the Cabra-Vale Diggers Cricket Club and graduated from Cabramatta High School. He completed his tertiary studies at the University of Wollongong. Throughout his career, Alen worked at the State Rail Authority and then RailCorp, as well as, a cricket and soccer coach. He was also a mentor to many young people in sports and in politics. Alen was a proud foundation member of the South Sydney Rabbitohs and a Chelsea FC fan. Despite his ill health, he was still very active on campaigns and on the phone. Alen was 54 years old. He is survived by his 105 year old dad, Ted Wale. We will miss you, Alen. Written by Adrian Wong, President, Cabramatta Branch, ALP.
