It was a rude sock and sadness when the Old Students of George Burton Memorial College, Ilesa learnt of the sudden death Elder Adeboye Turton. Elder Turton was not only a commited member, he was a Trustee of our association. He was a generous giver to all our school activities. Sometimes he donated annonymously. He even paid the dues of some people and will not want his name to be mentioned ! Elder Turton attended our last Annual General Meeting on the 1st Feb 2025 less than three weeks to his calling home. He was at his best at the meeting among his old classmates and friends not knowing that was the last time we will see him. Elder Turton death was a big loss to the association because this is the time we need him most with the promises he made to contribute more to the project we have on hand. We can not but thank God for the life of this phillantropist who have touched the life of many people. The Old Students thank and appreciate you for all you do for us. Losing you, Daddy, has been the deepest pain my heart has ever known. It is a sorrow that words cannot fully capture, a void that nothing on this earth can fill. Yet, even in this storm of grief and confusion, I choose to hold on to the truth that you are at peace, resting in the arms of the One who gave you life. Now, as I face the painful reality of your absence, I cling to the faith you lived by. The tears may fall, and my heart may ache, but I know that God is still sovereign. He is the same faithful God you served, the same One who walks with us through the valley of sorrow and lifts us up in our weakest moments. I trust that He has welcomed you home, free from pain, free from struggle, embraced in perfect peace. Daddy, your legacy lives on. In every act of kindness, in every lesson of strength, in the love you have sown into our hearts. You have finished your race, and while we miss you deeply, we will carry forward, holding on to the faith that one day, we will see you again with a big hug 🤗. This is a great loss from a father,and Big Dad who I knew to be a jovial, easy going person during his life time. I could remember the few times i and my immediate younger brother paid him a visit at his formal residence at ketu before relocating. Late Mr A.A.A Turton happens to be someone who gives words of advice, encourages one to knock at his door anytime, he says "always feel free any time to visit when you have questions bothering you", and same time cracks jokes to relax the mind with you... I can't believe you have gone so soon but God Almighty knows best. Your legacy on earth and memories still thrive among us. Big dad and Father may your gentle soul rest in peace and not in pieces in the blossom hands of the Lord Almighty.
You always called me Ademidunmola. No one else did, it was just you. And somehow, when you said it, it felt like more than just a name. We didn’t talk all the time, and we weren’t especially close, but whenever we spoke, you were happy to hear from me. Genuinely happy, like my voice brought a little joy. I still remember my early days in Jimoh Balogun. The memories are faint but I remember enjoying them because of the pink flowers I would pluck anytime I went there. You always wanted me to be comfortable at all times. You would ask “Is your mommy and daddy disturbing you?” “If they are tell me, fi won le fun mi” You asked about school, you told me to study well, to take care of myself, to become someone you could be proud of. You didn’t need to say much— your love was in the way you said my name. Ademidunmola. Every time, it sounded like pride, like a prayer. Thank you, Grandpa. For the warmth, for the quiet care, for calling me by a name that meant so much. Rest peacefully until we meet again.
Thank you for the knowledge and joy you brought to the lives of everyone around you and particularly our Parish, Amazing Grace assembly, though you are no more with us but your impact is written in the sand of our heart that can never be erased! You have shown us what it means to live a fulfilled life and going all out to see that God's work does not suffer. Rest in the bossom of the father that you love dearly. At this time, I'm sad but I thank God for a great life. I thank God for the time you spent here and how you loved people. I have many memories and everytime I remember them, I laugh and then I cry. Life... I remember when you dropped us off at Ojota on a trip to Ilorin and you called the driver and warned him to drive your children carefully or you'll come for him. You had his and others' attention with your usual suave, commanding, and semi-serious humor. It was funny but it registered. Everyone in the station wagon talked about it after we set out. They discussed the humor but they echoed your instruction to the driver. And he drove carefully. When you gave advice about serious life issues too, it was always in the same tone; salient but humorous. The humor gets the message across but never overshadows the essence. You were also so easy to listen to because you were a good judge of life and character. Above all, you spoke your truth without fear or favor. I remember you as confident, pragmatic, direct, elegant, funny, and vast. As a father, you cared and protected. I will miss you but I will not mourn like those who have no hope. I'm happy you're with Jesus. God will keep the rest of us. Amen.
A Tribute to Daddy Eko (Daddy Denrele) Daddy Eko, as we fondly called you… Daddy Denrele, as I always called you… It’s hard to believe you’re truly gone. Does this mean I will never hear your laughter again? Never exchange our playful slangs or share another moment of joy and light-hearted banter? Just like that, death has taken you from us—and it feels so unfair. Unfair to me. Unfair to the entire Turton family. And most of all, unfair to your beloved immediate family. Your sincere love, your heartfelt advice, and your constant concern for our progress and well-being—both within your nuclear and extended family—will never be forgotten. You poured so much of yourself into us. You celebrated our wins, guided us through challenges, and showed us what genuine love and support truly look like. We will miss you deeply, Daddy. Rest peacefully in the bosom of your Creator, Egbon mi tooto.
My uncle, Mr. Alex Turton, was a great man with a big heart. We fondly called him “Daddy Eko.” He was one of the funniest and most humorous men I have ever met. He could make anyone laugh and had a special gift for connecting with people, no matter their age. He would tell me, “Titi, I am like a father to you.” We talked like father and daughter, and I truly saw him as a dad—because he was indeed one. He would call me and advise me on different matters. He had a popular saying when he was upset with you and hadn’t heard from you: “Mo fun e ni long rope o wa n fa,” which means, “I gave you a long rope and you are pulling it.” Daddy Eko was not just an uncle to me—he was a father to me, and to many. “24 Jimoh Balogun” was a family house and a home for all, because he welcomed everyone into his home with love. I always looked forward to your daily WhatsApp messages—even though I didn’t read some of them then. When I heard about his passing, the first thing I did was check those messages, I will keep those messages and cherish them forever. I miss him so much. I hear his voice in my heart and my head. He would always pray for me and say, “Titi, ma ba e gbe Ibeji,” which means, “I will carry your twins.” I know we cannot question God, but I still wonder—what happened to that prayer? I’m comforted by the fact that you died a Christian, and I believe we will meet again.
A Tribute to My Late Father-in-Law Today, I honor the life of a man who was a source of strength, wisdom, and kindness in so many lives. My father-in-law was a person who lived with integrity and love, always putting family first and teaching us the true meaning of support, care, and patience. He had a unique way of making those around him feel loved, important and valued. Whether it was through his good-natured banter, his endless advice, or his way of bringing humor into even the toughest situations, his presence made a difference. His wisdom will continue to guide me, and the lessons he imparted will never be forgotten. What stands out most about him was the love he gave so freely. He treated everyone with respect, and his ability to listen and empathize with others made him someone you could always count on. To me, he was not just a father-in-law, but a mentor, a friend, a role model and a father. Though we now face the world without him, I take comfort in knowing that the love he shared, and the values he instilled in us, will continue to live on. His legacy is one of kindness, perseverance, and family, and I will carry those lessons with me always. Rest in peace, TURTON Adeboye Alexander. Uncle, your demise was unexpected at this time and very painful. Last time you came to Ilesa in January at prof Dayo you gave assignments to do we trying to send the report when I heard the shocking news that you are no more. O ga o. My only consolation is that you know Jesus and served Him. I missed powerful messages you used to send to me every day every day. My prayers is that God comfort and uphold all you left behind in Jesus name. God grant you eternal rest. Adeiu sir.
TO MY OWN DEAR BROTHER My own dear brother, Alexander Adeboye Turton is gone too soon. The pain of your loss is unbearable but I cherish the memories of our laughter, adventures, and the quiet moments shared together, especially when we were young. His kindness, compassion, and generosity touched the lives of everyone around him. Even though I'm in pain, I take comfort in the knowledge that brother Alex is now at peace with God. Our hearts are heavy with sorrow, but they are also full of gratitude for the many years we were blessed to have you in our lives. It still feels unreal, like I could pick up the phone and call you. Days pass, and I long to hear your voice again, to engage in our usual conversations about knowledge, ancestry, and business ideas. I miss our shared passion for cars, politics, the Nigerian government, and its economic challenges — topics that always kept us deeply engaged. As a father, nothing ever seemed impossible for you. Whatever needed to be done, you always knew someone, or knew someone who knew someone, to help get things done. Your passion for helping us achieve our goals was unwavering, and you extended this same dedication to everyone around you. You were firm yet humorous, wise, and incredibly smart. You taught me what it truly means to be a protector and a provider, to be strong and courageous as a man. More than that, you instilled in us values that will continue to guide us throughout our lives. Your example of hard work, integrity, and kindness will live on in all of us who were fortunate enough to know you. I find comfort in your love for Christ and your unwavering faith. You set the example for us by making prayer a daily tradition in our home — a practice that continues to this day, even though we are far apart. Your dedication to the Lord has left an indelible mark on all of us. Your wit and use of sarcasm and proverbs could light up any room, and your words will forever serve as a reference point for our conversations. Above all, it was your unwavering love for your family that stood out. You were always there for us, both your immediate and extended family, teaching us the importance of family bonds and supporting us in every way possible. I will miss you more than words can express. I wish you could have stayed longer, but I suppose our Father in Heaven wanted you back sooner than we had hoped.
