Otto Benjamin Røed Darren was a truly extraordinary man—kind, warm-hearted, and full of life. He had an unwavering ability to make those around him feel valued, always offering his laughter, wisdom, and friendship with an open heart. He was more than just a close friend; he was like an uncle to me, a cherished and close companion whose presence brought warmth and joy. To my parents, he was like a brother, and to all of us, he was family in the truest sense of the word. The memories we shared will forever hold a special place in my heart. I will never forget Darren’s determination and adventurous spirit. Even when his health was not there, he was eager to join us on a mountain bird hunt in Norway. The deep snow, high mountain and harsh weather would have discouraged most, but not Darren. With unshakable resolve, he made it to the top, proving once again the strength of his spirit and his refusal to let anything hold him back. It was moments like these that defined him—a man of incredible courage, resilience, and passion. A man I deeply admire. One of Darren’s dreams was to write a book about his life to his family. He longed to retreat to a cabin in the Norwegian wilderness, where he would spend a month reflecting and writing. He spoke of this dream with such excitement and conviction, and though he left us before he could bring it to life, his story remains forever etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Darren, you will never be forgotten. Your kindness, your laughter, and your indomitable spirit will live on in all of us. Thank you for everything. To Sarena, Adelaide, and the entire family, my heart goes out to you in this time of unimaginable loss. My deepest condolences to you all. I hope you find solace in the love that surrounds you and in the beautiful memories Darren left behind. He will always be with you, watching over you with the same love and devotion he carried in life. ❤️ With deepest sympathy and warmth, Otto

Lill Tove Røed Our deepest condolences in this difficult time. It is incredibly sad to hear the news that Darren lost his battle with cancer. Darren was a wonderful person, and a kind older brother. We got to know him well when he came to Norway as an exchange student in 1987 and stayed with us for a year on Nærøya. Darren taught us to see and appreciate the small and precious moments in life. It was always a joy when Darren and his family later visited us in Norway. The summer of 2024 was the last time he came to visit. We had many heartfelt conversations and a truly wonderful time together. We cherish the many good memories we shared. You will forever be in our hearts. Your family is our family. A final farewell from your Norwegian sister, Lill Tove Røed, and Jørn Otto Røed with family.

Thinking of you all. A beautiful service for a beautiful man. Be at Peace Darren.
