Tony and Carol McGruther To the Searle clan, As a neighbour, as a colleague, as a fellow life member of our Principals Association, as a supervisor and mostly as a friend Carol and I mourn the loss to the world of Alan Searle. We see his broad smile, we hear his infectious laugh and we know his mischeavious personality. We had the career priviledge of being supervised by Alan in our school at Gunalda. Alan entered our school in the Trojan horse of humour and  bon homie. But once inside he was clinical and perceptive of what was really going on. His model remained a lighthouse for me in my following work as a principal and administrator. He and Betty were our neighbours at Agnes Water. Alan took on the role of on site foreman whilst our house there was being built. We met their family and were inspired by the joy and laughter that came from next door when the family were in town. The 'lively' table tennis matches in the shed were a highlight and made us wonder just how many people did they have in there?! In our formal longe room hangs a Betty original. An impression of Agnes beach looking back at the old shack on the hill. It is now a family treasure and heirloom reminding us not only of Betty's talent but also of the enduring connection between ourselves and the Searles. Alan was well loved as a boss, as a colleague and as a friend. He had the personality as a person and wisdom as a leader to operate in all those roles at the same time. Alan you are remembered by so many people; and for our part, our connection with you and Betty and the family are a treasure of our lives.

It is with much regret we are unable to attend Uncle Alans service today. I have so many fond memories of him through my childhood and his unwavering support of my mother when she was unwell and my father after she passed. Our thoughts are with all of the family. Much love Andrew, Lila, and Max Chapman

My memories of uncle Alan He was firm when he needed to be. He was funny when he wanted to be. He encouraged cricket when I was a child at Pop's home with my cousins. He had wonderful taste marrying a HICK girl. Uncle Alan always encouraged family gatherings. He got a Aplus as a Uncle 😁. Good bye Uncle Alan Love Jenny
