- Gary Wong-SeeMy thoughts and condolences to the Tang family upon the passing away of Himmie. May our Lord Jesus Christ comfort all of you with His love, peace, and understanding during your period of grief and that His grace be all sufficient to carry you through this season and into the next. Uncle Himmie was my dad's sister's husband and there were so many wonderful memories about the character and nature of Uncle Himmie that impressed me during my child hood years. Firstly, he was a family man, a leader and initiator of relationships who would talk about anything under the sun. Secondly, he was giving of his time especially when repairing our family tv during the mid to late 1970's and early 1980s. He made several visits just to make sure everything worked as it should. He also took time to adjust our house aerial so that we could get better reception of SBS. I remember all the times Uncle Himmie would invite our family over for dinner and how he was like the master chef, preparing the BBQ and socialising with everyone, making you feel welcome. Other memories include Sunday afternoon tennis where he would book the tennis courts at Meadowbank then in later years at Ermington where I used to go to get some exercise and play a few sets with the aunties and uncles. On some occasions after tennis he would invite us over to his place for dinner where he or my dad would stop nearby to buy KFC along West Ryde. Those were memorable moments for me, bringing families together just how Jesus desires for us to love one another. Another memory is Uncle Himmie' s passion in serving the CPC church as an elder. He volunteered to do the painting of the main auditorium- a laborious task that required great hand co-ordination and patience. This probably took several weeks. He was an example of serving others out of selfless sacrifice, an example of a faithful servant of Jesus Christ who came to serve and not to be served. Uncle Himmie and my dad were close. They would often talk to one another on the phone or we would pop over to see how he and Ailsa was doing but the one recent memory I had was a dream about Uncle Himmie. This dream was from the Lord during last year's lockdown. 1st October 2021 I saw Uncle Himmie in a much younger age, around 45. I saw him organising prayer meetings and gatherings in small groups at his place. I sensed in the dream that he had done a lot in preparing it. I was in my present age and I saw him and patted him on the shoulder saying "Thanks for organising it" After I woke up from this dream, I felt so blessed to know Uncle Himmie's heart in serving people. While it's easy to look outwardly at people's good works without knowing their true inner motives of serving, yet the Holy Spirit showed me the true heart of who Uncle Himmie was when it came to love for people and helping people. With many other talents that God gave him, I can only say what an amazing and blessed servant Uncle Himmie was to his family, friends, and to those outside who asked for his help. He was a straight to the point person which I respected and his work ethic and attitude towards helping others left an example of love and legacy in Christ Jesus. May he be generously rewarded by the Lord for the fruits of his earthly labors in heaven. Bless you abundantly Uncle Himmie, thank you for leaving an example for us to aspire to. Looking forward to meeting you again in heaven for eternal fellowship when Jesus Christ comes again to rapture us home!25th September, 2022
- June WongMy loving thoughts and prayers are with you Gail and Stan, Michael and Lisa, Kim, Matthew and Joshua in the sad loss of your beloved father, father-in-law and grandfather. May God tenderly comfort, strengthen you and enable you to go forward with courage and faith.
Himmie’s warm, vibrant personality and loving, caring nature will always be remembered as he and Ailsa served together as a team to raise you as a fine family and assist relatives, friends, the church and community whenever needed. I too, as Ailsa’s cousin was blessed by their warm friendship and kind hospitality.
They leave a wonderful legacy of Christ-like lives who impacted and blessed many people. May we honour them by doing likewise.25th September, 2022
